Siddhartha had encountered four events in his life that led him to leave his palace and seek answers to the “pain of existence”. The first insight which he encounters was a man bent with old age, the second insight was a person who was afflicted with sickness, the third insight was of a corpse, and the last insight was of a wandering ascetic. The fourth insight pushed Siddhartha to find out a way for the solution to the pain of existence.
